AIM

To improve participants confidence and skills in the preparation and delivery of presentations

 

OBJECTIVES

By the end of the day participants will be able to effectively :

 

• Consider the target audience in designing a presentation

• Construct clear aims and objectives using the SMART criteria

• Plan and prepare a presentation following a prescribed systematic approach

• Understand the importance of using equipment, body language and room layout to best effect in making presentations

• Understand and practice skills to improve voice projection and overcome nerves

• Understand the purpose of a question and answer session and how to manage it

 

 

 

COMMITTEE SKILLS

 

AIM

To improve the understanding and practical skills required to run a committee

 

OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course participants will have:

 

Understood the role of a management committee and its relationship with paid officers and volunteers.

Identified the strengths and weaknesses of different styles of running committees

Identified what makes an effective meeting

 

DEVELOPING A BUSINESS PLAN

 

AIM

By the end of the day participants will have considered the major functions, structural options and practical issues in relation to business planning.

The reasons for compiling a business plan

Who will use the business plan

Who needs to be involved in business planning

How to construct a business plan – suggested methodologies

 

 

DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE POLICIES

 

AIM

To enable participants to develop a framework from which to produce policy documentation

 

OBJECTIVES

 

By the end of the day participants will be able to

Define “policy” and “procedures”

Understand the importance of policy and it’s relation to governance

Construct clear policy statements for their organisation
